Modern Traditional Home
Our challenge going in was “can we modernize while keeping the class and style of the era.” The answer was, yes!
This house had an exterior facelift and a top storey added in the early 2000s. The new storey and the siding were done in a very modern style, but the renovation didn’t touch the original 1960’s main floor decor.
We were able to retain most of the original cove ceilings and rebuild them where the renovation had to cut through to create better spaces. We brightened up the space by opening up the layout and adding new lighting. The original kitchen was cramped and awkward, but with a carefully designed new layout we were able to make it feel much bigger while greatly improving storage and usability.
Choices of flooring, colours, millwork styles, and tile patterns all work together to blend the modern and the traditional into one beautifully unique style.
